NEW YORK CITY, NY — Earth Day weekend plans could come with straphanger pangs for riders on multiple New York City subway lines, according to the MTA.
Major service changes are slated for the 7, A, C, J, Q, and Staten Island Railway trains, the MTA announced Friday.
Here's what you need to know if you plan to swipe your way across the city this weekend.

7 Trains Aren't Running Between Queensboro Plaza And 34 Street-Hudson Yard
Trains are not running between Queensboro Plaza and 34 Street-Hudson Yards in either direction from 12:15 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.
- Free shuttle buses are running in two sections:
- Q93: Between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Boulevard-Jackson Avenue.
- Q92: Overnight only between 34 Street-Hudson Yards and Times Square-42 Street. During the day, take the M34-SBS bus.
- Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- 7 trains are running between Queensboro Plaza and Flushing-Main Street.
- For service between Manhattan and Queens, take the E, F, N, R, or W trains.
- Special weekend W service is running every 20 minutes between 34 Street-Herald Square and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
- 42 Street Shuttle S trains will run overnight
Queensboro Plaza-bound trains are running on the express track from 74 Street-Broadway to Queensboro Plaza from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of station improvement work.

- For service to and from bypassed stations, take a Flushing-bound train.
A Trains Aren't Running Between Howard Beach-JFK Airport And Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue
Trains are not running between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue in either direction from 5:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of communications improvement work.
- Free shuttle buses are running along two routes, making stops along the A and SR lines:
- Nonstop between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue.
- Between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 Street on the SR.
- Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- Rockaway Park Shuttle SR trains are not stopping at Broad Channel. Instead, trains are running between Rockaway Park-Beach 116 Street and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue on the A every 20 minutes.
C Trains Are Rerouted In Manhattan And Brooklyn
Trains are not running between 168 Street and 145 Street in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.
- For service to and from 163 Street-Amsterdam Avenue and 155 Street, take the A train, which will make local stops all weekend.
- C trains are running between 145 Street and Euclid Avenue.
From, 9:45 p.m. Friday to 11:15 p.m. Sunday, 145 Street-bound C trains are running on the F line from Jay Street-MetroTech to 47-50 Streets-Rockefeller Center, and then via the D line to 59 Street-Columbus Circle. This is because of track maintenance.
- For service to and from High Street, Fulton Street, Canal Street, 14 Street, 34 Street-Penn Station, and 42 Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal, take the A train.
- For service to and from Spring Street and 23 Street, take a downtown train, or use nearby 1 train stations.
- For service to and from 50 Street, take the E train.
J Trains Aren't Running Between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer And Crescent Street
Trains are not running between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer in either direction from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.
- Free J90 shuttle buses are running between Crescent Street and 121 Street, connecting to Jamaica-Van Wyck E. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- For service to and from Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue-JFK Airport and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer, take the E.
- For direct service to JFK Airport, transfer to a Howard Beach-bound A train at Broadway Junction for service to Howard Beach-JFK Airport.
- J trains are running between Broad Street and Crescent Street.
Q Trains Aren't Running Between 57 Street-7 Avenue And Prospect Park
Trains are not running between 57 St-7 Avenue and Prospect Park in either direction from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement work.
- Q trains are running in two sections:
- Between 96 Street and 57 Street-7 Avenue
- Between Prospect Park and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue
- Free Q90 shuttle buses are running between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and Prospect Park, stopping at 7 Avenue. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- For service to and from stations between 57 Street-7 Avenue and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, take the N, R, or W trains.
Staten Island Railroad Trains Aren't Running Between Jefferson Avenue And Tottenville
Trains are not running between Jefferson Avenue and Tottenville in either direction from 1 a.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday because of maintenance work.
- Free shuttle buses are running between Jefferson Avenue and Tottenville. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
- SIR trains are running between St. George and Jefferson Avenue.
