The last Monday of May marks Memorial Day in New Jersey, a time of tributes, flags, parades, and wreath-laying ceremonies dedicated to those who gave their lives in service of our nation.
The Unofficial Start of Summer In New Jersey, this day also symbolizes the unofficial kickoff to summer. The Jersey Shore beach communities become full of activities that signify the season's arrival.
These events and activities also offer a variety of experiences ranging from, music festivals and ethnic celebrations to fireworks, auto races, and special events kicking off the summer.
While Memorial Day marks the start of summer festivities, the heart of its observance lies in remembering and honoring the brave who sacrificed their lives for our country.

Assembly will be on Enterprise Avenue North, just past the 5th Street gate and will proceed North on 5th Street to Flanagan Way Turn right on Flanagan Way, Left onto Plaza Center Turn right into Buchmuller Park There will be food and entertainment in Buchmuller Park immediately following the parade.

The Parade will kick-off at the corner of Lafayette Avenue and Rea Avenue. The Route is as follows - The Parade proceeds South on Lafayette Avenue to Vreeland Avenue, where it turns right and heads West to Parmelee Avenue; the Parade turns left and continues South on Parmelee Avenue, passing Hawthorne High School, to Diamond Bridge Avenue. At Diamond Bridge Avenue the Parade turns left and continues East on Diamond Bridge Avenue to the corner of Diamond Bridge Avenue and Lafayette Avenue where it turns left and proceeds North to the Borough Hall and the reviewing stand.
